The pilot’s chronograph, current generation
The Navitimer has been Breitling’s signature since 1952, built around a circular slide rule that lets a pilot work out speed, fuel consumption and distance right on the wrist. In 2022 Breitling refreshed the line. The AOPA winged logo returned to the dial, the case and bezel were refined, and the proportions were tightened up. This AB0138 is that current generation in the 43mm size.
The black dial with silver subdials is the configuration most people picture when they think Navitimer. The red chronograph seconds hand and the red markers on the slide rule add just enough color, and the multi-row steel bracelet finishes it with a mix of brushed and polished links and a Breitling-engraved folding clasp.
Caliber B01
The B01 is Breitling’s own manufacture chronograph movement: a column wheel and vertical clutch, about 70 hours of power reserve and COSC chronometer certification. It’s visible through the sapphire caseback, with the Breitling rotor sitting over the bridges.
Condition, in plain terms
We’d rather point out the flaws than have you find them. The case and dial present cleanly in our photos. The bracelet shows light hairline scratches on the polished center links and on the clasp, the kind of marks that come from normal wear. Nothing deep, and our close-up shots show them.
On our timegrapher it measured +1 second per day with 261 degrees of amplitude and a 0.0 ms beat error. That’s a movement running comfortably within chronometer standards.
