TAG Heuer Watches for Sale

Dom’s Luxury Watches keeps a rotating selection of pre-owned TAG Heuer watches for sale, drawn mainly from the Carrera line. Every one was inspected in-house before it was listed. We run the movement and check its rate, verify the reference against the caseback engraving, and examine the case, bracelet, and pushers for wear that the photographs alone would not tell you about.

Condition is described honestly in the listing, including how the watch is running, whether a strap is a replacement, whether a chronograph pusher feels soft, and whether the piece comes as a full set, box only, or watch only. Ask about case polishing on any watch and we will tell you exactly what we see, and if you want an unpolished example we will go looking for one.

This is the most accessible entry point into Swiss chronographs that we stock, and we would rather you buy the right one than the most expensive one.

What we stock

The Carrera is the core of what we carry, and it covers a lot of ground on its own: three-hand Caliber 5 references at the accessible end, Caliber 16 chronographs in the middle, and the in-house Heuer 01 and 02 models at the top. Day-date and full-calendar variants show up across the range.

Monaco, Formula 1, Aquaracer, and the older Link and 2000 series sit alongside the Carrera in what we source. Sets range from watch only through to full sets with box and papers.

Stock turns over continually, and we regularly source many other TAG Heuer models and reference numbers than ever appear on this page. If what you want is not listed above, it is still worth asking.

The grid above is the live answer on what is available today, with current pricing on each piece.

How every TAG Heuer here is checked before it is listed

Chronographs give you more to get wrong, so they get more attention. We run each movement and check its rate, then work the chronograph through start, stop, and reset to confirm the pushers engage cleanly and the hands return to zero. A lazy reset or a hand that lands off-zero is a service item, and it belongs in the description rather than in a buyer's first week.

The case gets checked for polish, with particular attention to the lug edges and the bezel, where TAG's brushed and polished transitions make careless refinishing easy to spot. Bracelets get checked for stretch and for correct end links. Dial, hands, and the date wheel font all get examined against the reference.

The TAG Heuer buyer's guide covers the collections in more depth, and the TAG Heuer serial number guide explains where the numbers are and how to read them.

Caliber 16, Caliber 5, Heuer 01: what you are paying for

The movement is the biggest single driver of price across the Carrera line, and the names are not self-explanatory.

Movement What it is Where it sits
Caliber 5 Automatic three-hand, based on a Sellita or ETA workhorse The accessible end, simple and cheap to service
Caliber 16 Automatic chronograph, based on the Valjoux 7750 The volume chronograph, proven and serviceable anywhere
Heuer 01 / 02 TAG's in-house chronograph with a skeleton dial The premium end, more distinctive and more expensive to service

None of these is a bad movement. The Valjoux-based Caliber 16 has been keeping time in chronographs for fifty years and any competent watchmaker can service it. The in-house calibers cost more to buy and more to maintain, and you are paying partly for the skeletonized look.

Full set, box only, watch only, and what TAG Heuer value actually does

Term What is included
Full set Watch, original box, papers or warranty card, extra links, and any straps or tools that shipped with it
Box only Watch and original box, no papers
Watch only The watch, and any straps or links needed to wear it

Straight talk on value, because it is the question we get asked most about this brand. TAG Heuer typically gives up more of its retail price in the first few years than Omega or Rolex do. That is the honest picture, and it is precisely what makes the pre-owned market here worth shopping, because somebody else has already absorbed that drop. A three-year-old Carrera in good condition with its box and papers is one of the better value propositions in Swiss watchmaking.

What it does from here depends on condition, completeness, and the reference. Nothing here is financial advice.

Looking for a TAG Heuer we do not have

Monaco, Formula 1, Aquaracer, and the older Link and 2000 series all come through the network. If you want a specific reference, a particular dial color, or a full set within a year range, tell us and we will look.

We will also tell you honestly if a reference you are set on is not worth what the market is asking, or if waiting a few weeks would serve you better. Start at source a watch or just call.

Frequently asked questions

Is TAG Heuer a luxury watch brand?

TAG Heuer sits at the entry level of Swiss luxury. The watches are Swiss made, mechanically serious, and carry genuine motorsport heritage through the Carrera and Monaco lines, but they are priced below Omega and well below Rolex. For a first mechanical chronograph, that position is a feature rather than a compromise.

Are TAG Heuer watches worth buying pre-owned?

This is the brand where buying pre-owned makes the clearest case. TAG Heuer gives up a meaningful share of its retail price early, so a three-year-old Carrera in good condition costs far less than a new one while offering the same watch. Movements like the Caliber 16 are serviceable by any competent watchmaker, which keeps long-term ownership costs reasonable.

How can I tell if a TAG Heuer is real?

Check the serial and reference engraving on the caseback against the model, look at the dial and date-wheel printing under magnification for spacing and font errors, and work the chronograph pushers to feel whether they engage crisply. Genuine cases have clean transitions between brushed and polished surfaces. No single check settles it, so have the movement inspected before buying at this price.

What is the difference between Caliber 16 and Caliber Heuer 01?

Caliber 16 is TAG Heuer's chronograph built on the Valjoux 7750, a proven movement that any watchmaker can service affordably. Heuer 01 is the in-house chronograph, usually paired with a skeletonized dial, and it costs more both to buy and to service. Both keep good time, so the choice is about the look and the running cost rather than reliability.

Can you source a specific TAG Heuer reference for me?

Often, yes. Monaco, Formula 1, Aquaracer, and older Carrera and Link references come through our dealer network regularly, so a specific reference or dial is worth asking about. We cannot promise a result on any particular watch, and we will say so plainly rather than take a deposit against something we may not find.
